Where we work

UTMT works with predominantly small/marginal farmers in tribal areas who practice rainfed, subsistence agriculture and need livelihood diversification. The Bees for Poverty Reduction programme is currently operational in the following districts and blocks.

Gujarat:
•    Dist Dangs (94% tribal, No 1 among the most backward districts in India )
•    Dist Valsad: 54% tribal population (36th in list of most backward districts)
Proposed Districts of work in 2011-14: Dist Tapi (83% tribal) and Dist Narmada (78% tribal)

Maharashtra:
•    Dist Thane (tribal blocks of Vikramgad, Talasari, Dahanu and Shahpur)
•    Dist Nasik ( Surgana and Peth, both tribal blocks)
•    Dist Kolhapur (Panhala & Gaganbawda, most backward blocks in district)

Madhya Pradesh:
Dist Umaria (31st in the list of most backward districts)
